Terms of use
Last updated: 8 October 2026
These terms govern your use of the Hevraya service and of Ari, its study partner. By creating an account, and then by continuing to use the service, you accept them.
The service
Hevraya offers spoken study sessions on Jewish texts with Ari, a study partner based on artificial intelligence. The texts come from Sefaria. Ari reads with you, asks questions, brings in the commentators and remembers the thread of your learning.
What Ari is not
- Ari is not a rabbi and does not replace a teacher or a human chavruta.
- Ari does not issue halakhic rulings (psak). For any practical question, consult a qualified rabbi.
- Ari is an artificial intelligence and can make mistakes, misunderstand or misquote. Check the sources in the text on screen.
- Ari always keeps the text, the commentators and its own ideas distinct, and stays neutral across communities.
Your account
- Accounts are reserved for people aged 15 or over, the age from which a person can consent alone to the processing of their data (Article 45 of the French Data Protection Act, loi Informatique et Libertés). By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 15.
- The information you give must be accurate.
- Your account is personal: do not share your sign-in details. You are responsible for what is done from your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from your settings. Your data is then erased as described in the privacy policy.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the service for illegal or hateful purposes, or to harass anyone;
- try to get around usage, security or billing limits;
- extract content in bulk, automate access to the service or reverse-engineer it;
- present what Ari says as a rabbinic opinion or as an authentic quotation;
- record or pass on another person's voice without their consent.
If you break these rules, we may suspend or close the account, after warning you unless it is urgent.
Your content
Your words, your insights (vorts) and your notes belong to you. You allow us to process them only to run the service for you, for example so that Ari remembers your last question. We do not publish them, sell them or use them to train artificial intelligence models.
Texts and licences
Texts and their translations come from Sefaria and their publishers, under their respective licences. Translations and paraphrases produced by AI are labelled as such.
Availability and liability
We do our best to keep the service running without interruption, but cannot guarantee it. The service is a study tool: it provides no religious ruling and no medical, legal or financial advice. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for decisions you make based solely on Ari's answers.
Nothing in these terms limits your rights under consumer law.
Changes
We may change these terms. Any significant change is announced by email or in the app at least 30 days before it takes effect.
If you continue to use the service after the changed terms take effect, you accept them. If you do not accept them, you can delete your account at any time from your settings.
Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by French law. If there is a dispute, please write to us first at contact@hevraya.com. The terms of sale explain how to use consumer mediation. Failing agreement, the French courts have jurisdiction, subject to the rules that protect consumers.
